![]() ![]() I started flipping through the last fifty paged or so since the book started to bore me. The author did a better job of shaping it into something of a coherent whole than did the game developers, but it's not enough to save a bad story. Just like the game, the story falters and it misses its mark, especially losing its flair when it starts switching between main characters. Here, just like the game, the story becomes a hot mess of incoherency and without depth. The first person writing style holds up well untill the second half of the book. I personally don't like Lara's dialogues with Maggie, her own inner voice. It's like re-playing the game, without the numerous bugs and errors. The general style expresses the author's familiarity with Tomb Raider lore and archaeology. Like the game, the beginning of the boom is quite enjoyable and even exciting.
